Surat : Surat, renowned as the fourth fastest growing city in the world and the economic capital of Gujarat, has taken an extraordinary step towards enhancing its air connectivity. In a move that has caught the attention of the world, the people of Surat have embarked on a unique postcard campaign urging Air India to restore its flights on the Surat sector.

The brainchild of the passionate members of “We Work for a Working Airport at Surat” (WWWAS), the postcard campaign aims to bring Air India flights back to the city, filling the void that arose during the synergy phase between AirAsia (AirIndiaX) and Air India. Thousands of postcards, each addressed to Campbell Wilson, the CEO and MD of Air India, are being readied to convey the citizens’ earnest appeal.

The campaign comes as no surprise, as Surat has grown into a bustling hub of commerce and industry, attracting entrepreneurs and businesses from all corners of the globe. As the city’s ambitions soar high, its need for robust domestic and international air connectivity has become more pressing than ever.

The postcards eloquently convey Surat’s heartfelt desire for Air India to reconnect the city with major metropolitan centers like Delhi and Mumbai. By doing so, Surat aims to unlock endless opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges both domestically and on the international stage.

The campaign has struck a chord with the residents of Surat, who have embraced it with enthusiasm. From schoolchildren to seasoned professionals, people from all walks of life are coming together to support this cause. In schools, children are creating personalized postcards adorned with vibrant drawings and heartfelt messages, while the business community is organizing mass mailing drives to ensure their voices are heard loud and clear.

As the pile of postcards continues to grow, the citizens of Surat remain hopeful that their campaign will capture the attention of Air India’s leadership, inspiring them to act swiftly and restore the much-awaited flights.

Surat’s undying spirit and unwavering determination to secure air connectivity serve as an inspiration to cities worldwide. In a world where digital communication has become the norm, Surat’s unique postcard campaign stands out as a testament to the power of collective action, reminding us that sometimes, a simple handwritten message can have an indelible impact on shaping a city’s future.
