Mumbai : The Mumbai Suburban District Legal Services Authority, Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika K-West Ward, University of Mumbai, and Ekata Manch organised the largest environmental rally “Eco-Walk” in Mumbai to encourage people to “Plant Saplings & Say No to Plastic.”
Over 5000 people marched in favour of environmental protection and to raise awareness about environmental challenges. They educated the public about the dangers of environmental deterioration and proposed solutions to limit the use of plastic and enhance sapling planting.
According to Principal Ajay Kaul, Founder of Ekata Manch, Principal of Children Welfare Centre High School & Clara’s College of Commerce – Versova, Yari Road, the environment’s balance was continually deteriorating owing to a lack of trees and vegetation. It is essential to plant trees in order to keep the ecosystem in balance.
Participants carried placards and banners with statements on pollution control, energy conservation, and water conservation. They also asked people to turn off electric devices when not in use, cease using plastic bags, avoid dumping waste in bodies of water, plant more trees, and dispose of rubbish exclusively in trash cans, among other environmentally friendly advice.
“If we don’t act quickly, our present and future are doomed,” Principal Ajay Kaul remarked. If bad habits like pollution, plastic use, and tree cutting persist, we will be responsible for the end of the earth.”
The event drew individuals from all walks of life, including a well-known figure such as Shri Sayaji Shinde, a notable cine actor and environmental activist who marched with zeal and zest to promote environmental awareness.
