Kutch : In the wake of the catastrophic Biparjoy cyclone, the Adani Foundation has launched a dedicated mission to restore normalcy to the devastated region of Kutch. Recognizing the importance of holistic relief efforts, the foundation is not only prioritizing the safety of women, children, and residents but also extending support to livestock affected by the calamity.

Working tirelessly on a war footing, the Adani Foundation has set up shelters across schools such as Vallabh Vidyalaya and Ahimsadham in Nana Kapaya and Zarpara. These shelters are equipped with essential facilities and have become safe havens for those displaced by the cyclone’s fury. To ensure the well-being of the affected, food packets, medical treatment, sanitary pads for women, and fodder for livestock have been provided within these shelters.

With a Mobile Healthcare Unit and a team of dedicated doctors from Adani Hospital, medical aid is being administered to those in need. Over 12,500 food packets have already been distributed to the shelters, addressing the immediate hunger crisis. Collaborating closely with the local administration, the Adani Foundation is actively working to ensure the safety and security of coastal residents.

Recognizing the urgent need for medical aid, the foundation has supplied essential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits and medical supplies to 22 Gram Panchayats. Adani Port Executive Director, Rakshit Shah, and his wife Amiben have actively engaged in community service activities, personally visiting affected areas and distributing relief materials.

Children have not been forgotten amidst the chaos, as the foundation has distributed drawing books, chocolates, and around 30,000 bags prepared by the Food Sister Saheli Group. To address the physical and mental well-being of the affected, more than 90 Outpatient Departments (OPDs) are providing medical diagnosis, treatment, and counseling services. Beds, mattresses, and other essential items have been distributed to women and children to ensure their comfort and safety.

Understanding the challenges faced by remote areas, the foundation has collaborated with RRWHS to guide the storage of water in tanks and the protection of livestock through the ‘Avaaj De’ facility. Efforts have also been made to provide immediate fodder supply to support the livelihoods of farmers who have suffered losses.

In addition, the Adani Foundation has taken an empathetic approach to menstrual hygiene by distributing sanitary pads to adolescent girls and women, thanks to the support of a voluntary organization. The foundation also acknowledges the struggles of the fishing community living along the coast and is broadcasting timely messages through Awaaz De to warn and inform fishermen about potential dangers.

Throughout this crisis, the Adani Foundation remains committed to serving the needs of the affected communities in Kutch. With over 10,000 people already benefiting from disaster preparedness information, the foundation’s unwavering dedication and support continue to bring hope to those facing the aftermath of the Biparjoy cyclone.
