R Krishnakumar, a Tata Group Veteran, Passes Away At 84

Mumbai (Maharashtra) : Officials in Mumbai announced on Sunday night that R Krishnakumar, a close aide of Ratan Tata and a group veteran, had passed away.

Krishnakumar, a native of Kerala, led the group’s Indian Hotels division at the age of 84.

According to reports, the Padma Shri recipient had a heart attack on Sunday while at his home in the nation’s financial hub.

N Chandrasekaran, the current chairman of Tata Sons, expressed his sadness at Krishnakumar’s passing and praised his “enormous contribution” to the Tata Group.

“Knowing him gave me insight into his remarkable humanity. He had a deep-seated desire to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged. We mourn his passing and offer prayers for his soul “What Mr. Chandrasekaran said in his statement.

Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister of Kerala, tweeted condolences to Krishnakumar’s family and reflected on how his upbringing in Thalassery bolstered the group’s ties to the southern state.

Krishnakumar, after retiring from executive roles, remained involved with the Tata Trusts and was rumoured to have worked alongside Ratan Tata in the Cyrus Mistry scandal.

On Monday, September 4 at 4:30 pm, the cremation of Krishnakumar will take place at the Chandanwadi Crematorium in this city.
