Surat: Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), the world’s leading diamond crafting company headquartered in Surat and led by its founder and chairman Govind Dholakia, has been successful in its efforts to raise awareness about natural resources conservation and the cleanliness of the Ghats of Rishikesh on the banks of the holy Ganga River for the past decade under the ‘Rashtriya Swachh Ganga Abhiyan’.

This time, more than 1,200 SRK family members participated in the cleanup, which covered many kilometers near the Ghats in Rishikesh.

Govind Dholakia, founder, and chairman of SRK performed the Bhagwat Katha by Dongreji Maharaj over eight days at the yatra in Rishikesh to celebrate a decade of successful pilgrimages there. Govind Dholakia, often known as Govind Kaka, is an expert in the Bhagwat Gita, having memorised roughly 700 Shlokas.

Govind Kaka recited the Bhagwat Gita while also telling the story of his life’s important events. Members of SRK’s family who were in attendance were allowed to recite verses from the Bhagwat Katha, and a Q&A session was also planned around the text’s teachings.

The SRK family, including the young children, participated in a garbage collection in an attempt to demonstrate the importance of taking care of one’s community and developing good organisational skills that would help them in the future.

For its 1,200 workers and their families, SRK hired the train “SRK Gange Express” from Surat to Rishikesh. On October 22, Minister of Urban Development Vinu Moradiya of Gujarat officially flagged off the train from Surat.

On November 4, the SRK family members were greeted warmly when the SRK Gange Express train arrived at the Surat railway station.

Every two years, the SRK Group organises a “cleanliness yatra to Rishikesh” with the express purpose of strengthening family bonds. Entertainment, a rangoli competition, a firework event, a yoga programme, a visit to the Patanjali Ashram, a blood donation camp, a group game function, cricket and volleyball tournaments, a dandiya and raas event, and so on were all part of the yatra’s agenda, among other things.
