4 dead, 25 injured in the massive fire at Anupam Rasayan India Limited factory at Sachin GIDC in Surat

Sources in the Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) fire and the emergency department said the massive fire erupted at the Anupam Rasayan following multiple blasts inside the factory due to the leakage of highly inflammable chemicals. Within a few minutes, the fire engulfed the entire manufacturing facility of the company and more than 35 workers were trapped.
About 30 fire tenders from different fire stations across the city were rushed to Sachin GIDC for dousing the fire and rescue work. The firefighters successfully rescued more than 25 victims, who had sustained minor to major burns injuries. While the rescue teams found the dead body of the worker inside the factory premises during the operation, the three other critically injured workers breathed their last in the private hospital.
The deceased workers have been identified as Ankur Suresh Patel, 35, Sanjay Govind Soura, 25, Prabhat Singh Gyanendra Jha, 30, and Rakesh Pramod Singh, 35. Over 25 injured workers are being treated at the private hospitals in Surat.
Basant Pareek, chief fire officer (CFO) said, “The massive fire was reported at Anupam Rasayan company in Sachin GIDC. It was due to the leakage of chemicals during the manufacturing process. It took more than 3 hours for the fire teams to gain control of the huge fire”
