Ahmedabad | Gujarat —- In a major boost to India’s high-speed rail ambitions, the Surat Bullet Train Station has reached a significant construction milestone, with its steel structural framework and roof sheeting work now completed. The development signals steady progress on the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, positioning Surat as a key node in the country’s future transport network.

According to the latest update released by National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited, finishing works at the station are currently in full swing. Activities such as false ceiling installation, wall and column cladding, as well as platform and concourse flooring are progressing rapidly. Track laying work is also underway, bringing the project closer to operational readiness.

“The completion of structural and roofing work marks a crucial step forward. The focus is now on delivering world-class passenger amenities and ensuring seamless connectivity,” an NHSRCL official said.

The Surat station is part of a broader push to develop integrated, passenger-centric infrastructure across South Gujarat. Contracts for Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) and station area development have already been awarded for key stations including Bilimora, Vapi, Bharuch, Anand and Vadodara.

These developments aim to transform station zones into modern urban hubs, integrating various modes of transport such as buses, taxis, and private vehicles. The goal is to significantly enhance last-mile connectivity while ensuring smooth and efficient passenger movement.

Under the MMI initiative, station plazas are being designed as vibrant public spaces with advanced facilities. These include dedicated parking zones, pick-up and drop-off points, pedestrian-friendly walkways, modern street lighting, CCTV surveillance systems, and landscaped green areas. Authorities say these features will not only improve convenience but also elevate the overall travel experience.

“By integrating transport modes and creating sustainable urban spaces, we are building infrastructure that is future-ready and commuter-friendly,” the official added.

Meanwhile, progress reports from other stations highlight similar momentum. At Bilimora Bullet Train Station, structural steel erection and slab casting works have been completed, with architectural finishing and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) work currently underway.

At Bharuch Bullet Train Station, both slab casting and structural steel work are complete, and finishing activities are progressing steadily. Similarly, Vapi Bullet Train Station has completed major structural works, with electrical installations now in focus.

Further north, Anand Bullet Train Station has achieved milestones including roof sheeting and installation of lifts and escalators, while cladding work continues. At Vadodara Bullet Train Station, slab casting and structural erection are progressing in phases.

With construction advancing across multiple fronts, the bullet train corridor is steadily moving from blueprint to reality. For cities like Surat, the project promises not just faster travel, but a transformation into a modern, globally connected urban hub.
