3D Printing to Transform Fabric Manufacturing in Surat textile sector

Surat | Gujarat — The textile city of Surat is all set to take a giant leap in 3D printing technology to enhance the popularity of fabrics manufactured in the country’s largest man-made fibre (MMF) industry. 

The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) in collaboration with SEWA and Setu had organized an interesting seminar on the transformative potential of 3D Printing Technology under Progress 2.0 in Manufacturing Technologies. In this program, Meet Dave of Make3D.in, a leading Indian 3D printer manufacturer, provided useful guidance as the keynote speaker.

In his 45-minute address,  Meet Dave highlighted the advancements in 3D printing, showcasing how Make3D.in’s innovative solutions, including their first range of industrial-grade printers, are empowering businesses with rapid prototyping, customized production and cost-effective production. PCL material is used in tissue engineering. If there is tissue damage due to injury, this material acts like real tissue, thus even a broken hand can become functional again.

While explaining how 3D printing works, he said that it is very useful in many fields including industry, medical. While giving understanding about resin 3D printing, he explained how plastic crates, molds for making laddu, bottles, handles can be made through 3D printing and enumerated its benefits including cost, speed.

SGCCI’s treasurer CA Mitish Modi said in the welcome address that the main intention of this seminar is to accept new technology. The government is also encouraging technology.

An interesting question-and-answer session was also held at the end of the seminar where the attendees raised curious questions on practical implementation, material choices and future trends in additive manufacturing. 

Pradeep Patel, Co-Chairman of the General Engineering Committee, gave an overview of the program highlighting its relevance to the engineering and manufacturing sectors in South Gujarat. The other co-chairman Kishore Patel introduced the speaker emphasizing Mr. Meet Dave’s expertise in additive manufacturing.
