Surat : The newly renovated Mumbai Central-Surat Flying Ranee Express train with its LHB rake has sparked a deluge of reactions on social media as passengers found themselves needing umbrellas inside the moving train during the monsoon season. The picture of a man literally holding an umbrella inside the train to shield himself from water leaks from the roof went viral, leading to humorous calls to rename the train ‘Flying Kani.’

The grand unveiling of the revamped Flying Ranee took place on July 15, graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Railways, Darshana Jardosh. However, it seems the monsoon rain had other plans as the new avatar encountered a rather amusing hiccup. Social media users wasted no time in sharing their amusement, flooding the internet with witty comments and memes about the train’s new identity as ‘Flying Kani,’ which translates to a train with a hole.

Western Railway (WR) authorities were quick to respond to the situation as they took immediate action to address the leaks. In a bid to control the water seepage, tarpaulins were promptly placed on the rakes of the Flying Ranee train. While this proactive response was appreciated by some, frequent travelers have voiced their discontent, claiming that the renovation has left much to be desired.

The viral image of the man holding an umbrella inside the train has become emblematic of the need for improvement in the revamped Flying Ranee. Critics and commuters have expressed disappointment, stating that the coach’s armrests in several compartments remain broken, and the overall changes between the old and the new Flying Ranee are negligible.

Passengers, though amused by the situation, have urged railway authorities to ensure that such occurrences are adequately addressed. Many have called for a thorough review of the renovation process to guarantee passenger comfort and safety.

As social media continues to buzz with memes and jokes about the ‘Flying Kani’ experience, authorities are reminded of the significance of ensuring quality in every aspect of rail services. While the leaks have brought unexpected humor to the monsoon journey, passengers ultimately seek a safe and pleasant travel experience.
