VNSGU’s Beacon of Higher Education Marred by Garbage-Dumping Water Body on Campus

Surat : Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) has been a shining example of excellence in higher education, inspiring and shaping the lives of generations of students. However, recent events on campus have prompted questions about the administration’s commitment to campus cleanliness and environmental protection.

The campus water body is a prime illustration of this since it has become a dumping place for trash. This body of water, which was once peaceful and scenic, is now a filthy and dangerous zone due to the widespread dumping of trash and debris.

Restoration of the water body will benefit the campus’s biodiversity, but VNSGU administration is more engaged with internal politics. Every day, tonnes of trash, including plastic cups, plates, bags, and other odorous debris, are tossed into the lake.

Concerned people and students have raised their voices against this flagrant disrespect for the environment, bringing attention to the situation of the water body. They want the university to clean it up and return it to its former beauty immediately.

This event has also prompted broader concerns about the quality of instruction at VNSGU. Is the university’s primary goal just to educate its students, or does it also seek to inculcate in its pupils a respect for the natural world and a sense of civic duty?

VNSGU, as a premier university, has an obligation to influence its students’ personal growth and worldview in addition to providing them with a solid academic foundation. University administration must take environmental protection seriously and implement measures to keep campus clean and pollution-free.

VNSGU’s administration should rethink their goals and work towards making the institution more sustainable and ecologically aware in light of the situation involving the water body on campus, which has been utilised as a waste dump. Then VNSGU will be able to say that it is educating future generations of students to be productive members of society as well as academic achievers.
