Ahmedabad : Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar attended the 72nd annual convocation ceremony at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, where he inaugurated the newly constructed Atal-Kalam Bhavan. Acknowledging the significant contributions of leaders hailing from Gujarat, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Vice President emphasized the profound impact that Gujaratis make when they engage with the national and global stage.

During the convocation ceremony, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar officially inaugurated Atal-Kalam Bhavan, a newly constructed facility within Gujarat University’s premises. The inauguration marked a momentous occasion for the institution, signifying a commitment to fostering academic excellence and providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for the students.

Addressing the gathered youth, the Vice President encouraged them to face life’s challenges with resilience and determination. He underscored the importance of steadfast dedication in overcoming setbacks, emphasizing that such commitment ultimately leads to success.

Reflecting on Gujarat’s unique qualities, the Vice President highlighted the soil’s distinctive essence that has given birth to visionary leaders throughout history. From Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi to present leaders Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Gujarat has been a cradle for eminent personalities who have significantly elevated India’s global standing.

The Vice President articulated that the current period is pivotal in realizing the vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat). He emphasized the robust foundation laid during the Amrit Kaal of Azadi and expressed optimism about the youth playing a crucial role as the nation celebrates its 100 years of independence in 2047.

Vice President Dhankar expressed his privilege in inaugurating the ‘Atal Kalam Research Centre.’ He highlighted the collective pride in naming the center after two distinguished sons of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and APJ Abdul Kalam. Inspirational anecdotes from Abdul Kalam’s life were shared, inspiring the attending youth.

The Vice President commended Gujarat for hosting successful events like the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, providing a global platform for development. He also praised the state as a hub of innovation and expressed admiration for initiatives like the Green Hydrogen Mission.

Jagdeep Dhankar lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, including those for women’s empowerment, rural sanitation, and transparent distribution of government assistance through bank accounts. He highlighted India’s leading position in digital transactions globally and the World Bank’s recognition of the country as the fastest-growing economy.

Expressing his vision for the nation’s youth, the Vice President affirmed his commitment to the Rajya Sabha, stating his readiness to extend proceedings for decisions beneficial to the country. He encouraged the youth to become the essence of democracy, envisioning numerous achievements for the nation in the future.

As part of the convocation ceremony, two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. The first involved collaboration between the Women’s Council of World Affairs and Gujarat University, while the second focused on facilitating visits to the new Parliament Building for students of Gujarat University. These initiatives reflect the commitment to global collaboration and experiential learning for the university’s students.
