VADODARA,GUJARAT : Vadodara’s iconic Vishwamitri Railway overbridge has been temporarily closed to commuters to facilitate essential girder work for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. The closure, announced by Vadodara’s Police Commissioner, is slated to commence from 1 a.m. on June 6th and will extend until 11 p.m. on June 16th or until the completion of the girder installation, ensuring safety compliance throughout the construction period.
Managed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project under the aegis of the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the ongoing construction focuses on crucial girder segments of the Vishwamitri Railway overbridge. In adherence to stringent safety protocols, all vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the bridge will be suspended until the conclusion of the girder work or until June 16th, whichever comes earlier.
The Vadodara Police Commissioner’s notification outlined the closure details and provided alternative routes for commuters inconvenienced by the bridge shutdown. The affected stretch, from Lalbaug Bridge to the Vishwamitri overbridge until Mujmahuda Circle, will be inaccessible during this period. Commuters are advised to utilize alternative routes, which entail navigating from Lalbaug Bridge to Rajmahal Gate, then turning left from Maharani Nursing Home crossroad to Akota Dandiya Bajar Bridge, followed by a left turn to Mujmahuda Circle from Akota Bridge crossroads, subsequently passing through Aksharchowk Circle, Kalali Bridge, Jupiter crossroad, Tulsidham crossroads, and the Shreyas School three-way junction.
Furthermore, access to the Vishwamitri Overbridge from the Avdhut crossing has been restricted. Motorists are encouraged to opt for alternative routes, such as entering from the Avdhut crossing, making a right turn from the Manjalpur MuktiDham crossroad, a left turn from Suncity Circle, and proceeding via Darbar Chokdi.
