VADODARA : At a time when quality education is often associated with private institutions, Kavi Dula Kaag Primary School in Vadodara is rewriting the narrative. The government-run school has emerged as a shining example of academic excellence, modern infrastructure, and all-round student development, earning a place under the prestigious PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) scheme of the Government of India.

Established in 2010 and managed by the Nagar Prathmik Shikshan Samiti, the school has built a reputation that rivals many private schools. With more than 1,700 students enrolled, the campus features three buildings, 24 classrooms, air-conditioned computer and science laboratories, a modern library, smart classrooms equipped with interactive panels, sports grounds, a medicinal garden, and a lush green environment.

“The inclusion under the PM SHRI scheme is a recognition of the school’s commitment to providing quality education and holistic development opportunities to students,” school officials said.

The school’s growing popularity is reflected in the long waiting lists for admissions each year. Parents increasingly prefer the institution because of its strong academic track record and student-focused learning environment. Students have consistently excelled in examinations such as the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS), PSE, CET, and Gyan Sadhana, while the school regularly secures top grades in government evaluations.

Beyond academics, Kavi Dula Kaag Primary School has made a mark in sports and cultural activities. Students have represented Gujarat at district, state, and national competitions in sports including Kho-Kho, Langdi, and Rope Mallakhamb, winning several medals and accolades. Under the PM SHRI scheme, the appointment of a dedicated sports teacher is expected to further strengthen training in athletics and archery, opening new opportunities for aspiring athletes.

One of the school’s most distinctive initiatives is its Bal Sansad (Children’s Parliament), which encourages leadership, responsibility, and democratic participation among students. Through committees overseeing cleanliness, health, water management, mid-day meals, and other activities, students actively contribute to school governance while learning valuable life skills.

The school has also achieved remarkable success in Kala Mahakumbh competitions, particularly in Raas-Garba and folk music categories. With additional support under the PM SHRI scheme, including a dedicated music teacher, students are expected to gain further exposure and opportunities.

Recognised by senior state leaders and visited by national and international dignitaries, including a BRICS representative, Kavi Dula Kaag Primary School is increasingly being seen as a model institution contributing to the vision of a developed and educated India.
