Tragedy Strikes Gajapura Village as Four Teens Drown due to negligence of WASMO

Panchmahal : A horrifying incident unfolded in Gajapura village, Panchmahal district, as four teenage children tragically lost their lives in a deep pit near a lake.

The incident, which occurred early on Tuesday morning, has left the community in shock and mourning, while raising serious questions about the gross negligence of contractors associated with the Water and Sanitation Management Organisation (WASMO), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) of the State Government.

The victims, aged between 12 and 13 years, were playing near the pit when the unimaginable tragedy struck. One after another, they slipped into the deep waters while attempting to save their friends, leading to their untimely demise. The news of the incident sent shockwaves through the village, leaving families devastated and the entire community in mourning.

Local swimmers, upon receiving news of the tragedy, raced to the scene and valiantly recovered the lifeless bodies of the four children from the lake. The heart-wrenching sight left a somber atmosphere in Gajapura, as the realization of the tragedy sunk in.

However, what makes this incident even more distressing is the apparent negligence on the part of the contractor associated with WASMO. The pit near the lake, where this heart-wrenching incident took place, was reportedly dug as part of a project to build a water tank. Shockingly, there were no visible safety measures in place to secure or barricade the pit, leaving it exposed and hazardous.

Community members and concerned citizens have begun discussing the grievous lapse in safety measures at the site. It is assumed that the children fell into the pit due to the absence of any security measures or barriers, ultimately leading to this heartbreaking incident.
