Narmada | Gujarat — In a tragic incident on Sunday, three workers were buried alive following a massive landslide at Gora Ghat on the banks of the Narmada River in Narmada district. The labourers were engaged in renovation work when a sudden collapse of the wet and unstable soil trapped them beneath debris, leaving no time to escape.
Rescue Teams Recover Bodies After Hours of Effort
Following the incident, police, firefighters, and emergency response teams rushed to the site and launched an extensive rescue operation. After several hours of digging through the mud and rubble, the bodies of the three victims were recovered.
The deceased were identified as Rohit Ranchhod Tadvi (45), Dipak Bhanabhai Tadvi (40), and Shailesh Kanu Tadvi (37) — all residents of Aktareshwar village in Narmada district. Their bodies were shifted to Garudeshwar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Case Registered Against Contractor and Agency
The Narmada police have filed a case against INFA Agency and contractor Shailesh Patel under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 54 (violation of safety norms) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have also initiated a search operation to trace the accused responsible for the unsafe working conditions.
Public Outrage Over Negligence and Safety Violations
Political leaders from the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) visited the accident site and met with the families of the deceased at the hospital. Meanwhile, local residents voiced strong outrage, alleging that the tragedy was a result of gross negligence and lack of safety measures.
They said the renovation work should have been suspended during the monsoon season, or at least conducted with adequate protective safeguards to prevent such incidents.
