Ahmedabad | Gujarat — In a tragic incident on Monday morning, three passengers lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries in a major road accident on the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway near Harniyav village, under Kanbha police station limits.

According to police officials, the mishap occurred when a Patel Travels bus collided with a Kia car, causing both vehicles to halt abruptly on the expressway. Moments later, a Rajasthan-registered truck crashed into the stationary bus from behind, triggering a deadly pile-up that resulted in multiple casualties.

Impact Leaves Three Dead, Several Injured

The impact of the collision was so severe that three passengers died on the spot, while seven to eight others sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment with the help of 108 emergency services.

Local witnesses described the scene as “chaotic,” with shattered glass, twisted metal, and traffic coming to a standstill on the busy stretch.

Speeding and Poor Visibility Suspected

Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding and low visibility in the early morning hours may have contributed to the crash. Police officials are examining CCTV footage from the expressway and conducting mechanical inspections of the involved vehicles to determine the exact cause.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, while authorities are working to contact their families.

Police Launch Investigation

The Kanbha police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Efforts are also underway to ensure smooth traffic movement along the expressway, which witnessed long queues of vehicles following the accident.

Officials have reiterated appeals to motorists to maintain safe speeds and exercise caution, especially in low-visibility conditions on high-speed corridors like the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway.
