Gujarat on High Alert After Bomb Threat Email

AHMEDABAD : Gujarat security agencies were placed on high alert after an unidentified person allegedly sent an email threatening bomb attacks at several locations, including the Somnath Temple, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the BJP’s central office.

The threat email was reportedly first received by Punjab Police, which subsequently alerted Gujarat Police. The message claimed that explosives had been planted at multiple locations, prompting security agencies to launch an immediate verification and search operation.

The email reportedly contained inflammatory slogans and references to Pakistan and Khalistan, along with threats directed at police personnel and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

BJP Office Searched

Following the alert, Ahmedabad City Police immediately moved to the BJP office in Khanpur and began a detailed security check.

Police teams were accompanied by personnel from the fire brigade, bomb disposal squad and dog squad. The premises were thoroughly searched for any suspicious object or explosive material.

Shahpur Police Station Inspector P.B. Khambhla said the inspection was carried out as a precaution following the email threat.

“The premises were checked with the assistance of the bomb squad and dog squad. Nothing suspicious was found during the search,” Khambhla said.

Ahmedabad Mayor Hitesh Barot and city BJP general secretary Umang Nayak also reached the party office after the security alert.

Security Agencies Begin Probe

The email allegedly began and ended with religious slogans and contained provocative statements against India and the BJP. It also reportedly mentioned Somnath Temple, the Chief Minister, BJP premises, police and RAW.

Officials are now working to establish the identity and location of the sender and determine whether the threat represents a genuine security risk or an attempt to create panic.

Security agencies are also examining the technical details of the email as part of the investigation.

The latest threat comes shortly after similar bomb threats were reported in Gujarat. On September 10, threats were reportedly received concerning the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Gandhinagar Court and a school in Ahmedabad, triggering security checks.

Officials have urged people to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while the investigation continues.

Security personnel are maintaining heightened vigilance at sensitive government, religious and political locations across the state as agencies verify the latest threat.
