Ahmedabad(Gujarat): Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad is all set to commission a new baggage system to facilitate tens of thousands of passengers traveling to and from the airport. The state-of-the-art baggage screening system is in the final stage of system integration.

Recently Saradar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport crossed 32,000 passenger movements in a day and it is increasing. Over the last two years, the city airport has increased network connectivity to 30 domestic destinations from Ahmedabad and 14 internationals, which is increasing continuously with new airlines preferring to operate from Ahmedabad.

Following the passenger feedback and suggestion, major work to upgrade the registered baggage screening system was carried out over the last few months. With support from passengers and stakeholders, it will be fully operational with ongoing system integration. The initiatives are taken up to enhance the baggage handling system to further strengthen the processing time for passenger convenience.

The new system will not only enhance the processing time but will be augmenting the capacity for a seamless travel experience. Two new carousals will add to the ease of baggage handling for the passengers.

Recently, new drop-off lanes were commissioned outside domestic departure, new arrival hall will be soon operational for passenger ease and better experience as the work towards completion.
