Surat : Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), a globally leading diamond crafting and exports company, is set to host the prestigious ‘SRK Sustainability Conclave 2023’ in Surat, Gujarat on May 20th, 2023. The event is supported by the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) and The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI), with The Global Network for Zero serving as the Knowledge partner.

The conclave comes at a time when India is committed to achieving its non-fossil energy capacity of 500 GW by 2030 and reaching net zero emissions by 2070. In line with this vision, SRK, renowned for its sustainable practices, has pledged to become Net Zero for both its diamond crafting facilities by 2024, six years ahead of India and any Indian MNC. By embracing the Net Zero path, SRK demonstrates its dedication to building a resilient and sustainable society.

Under the theme of “Rethinking Corporate Climate Action,” the sustainability conclave will shed light on how Indian leaders are addressing critical topics such as sustainability, green building, net zero, and corporate social responsibility while fostering a growth mindset. It will provide a platform to discuss the pressing issues faced by industry, government, and society due to climate change and explore effective strategies for tackling them.

Surat, known for its proactive approach to urban development, has already established its Climate and Urban Resilience Strategy. The city has been a pioneer in implementing initiatives like the Smart Cities Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Prime Minister Awas Yojna (PMAY). With three consecutive “2nd Cleanest City of India” titles, Surat demonstrates its commitment to making a significant contribution towards climate action. Hosting a global conclave of this magnitude showcases the city’s determination and resilience in becoming an environmentally friendly business hub in western India.

The sustainability conclave will witness the participation and insights of esteemed personalities from various fields. Distinguished speakers include Mahesh Ramanujam, President & CEO of The Global Network for Zero; Kamilla Kristensen Rai, Counsellor at the Delegation of the European Union to India – Urbanisation; Melanie Grant, Executive Director of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC); Arun Nanda, Chairman of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts; HE Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Managing Director of HRH Group of Hotels; Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IIT-Gandhinagar; Kartikeya Sarabhai, Founder & Director of the Centre for Environment Education (CEE); Prashant Tiwari, Chief Sustainability Officer of Amara Raja Group; Anindya Chowdhury, Country Manager of the Energy Transitions Programme at Shell; CA Priti Savla, Chairperson of the Sustainability Reporting Standards Board, ICAI; Ravi Agrawal, Managing Director of Gencrest; Arun Misra, CEO & Whole Time Director of Hindustan Zinc (Vedanta Group); Prof. Haritha Saranga of the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, and Mohal Lalbhai, Founder & CEO of Matter Group.

The SRK Sustainability Conclave 2023 serves as a remarkable platform for industry leaders, experts, and visionaries to come together and contribute towards a sustainable future. It reflects the shared commitment of SRK, supporting partners, and the city of Surat to drive positive change, foster innovation, and champion responsible practices. By reimagining corporate climate action, this conclave paves the way for a greener, more resilient, and prosperous future for India and the world.
