Surat SOG Busts Drug Operation: LSD and Cannabis Worth ₹43.15 Lakh Seized

SURAT, GUJARAT : Surat’s Special Operation Group (SOG) conducted a major raid on June 2, seizing a substantial quantity of LSD and hybrid cannabis from Krishna Kunj Society near Palanpur Patia. The operation, which uncovered nine blotter papers along with the narcotics, has an estimated street value of ₹43.15 lakh.

Surat police Authorities suspect that the drugs were procured through illicit channels on the dark web, highlighting the growing concern of online drug trafficking. The investigation led the police to focus on a resident of Krishnakunj Society, Partha Mandirwala, allegedly the prime suspect in this case.

However, during the raid, Partha was not present at his residence, prompting authorities to interrogate his father, Ketan Mandirwala. The interrogation shed light on a startling revelation about Partha’s involvement in drug-related activities.

Further probing into Partha’s background unveiled a possible connection to Thailand. As a diamond merchant, Partha was known to frequently travel to Bangkok and other parts of Thailand. His recent trip, accompanied by his wife, took place on May 29, where they were granted a month-long visa.

Police investigations suggest that Partha was not only a consumer but also actively engaged in the distribution of narcotics. The discovery has shocked his family, who were oblivious to his clandestine activities for the past five to six months.

This revelation underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating the clandestine drug trade, especially when facilitated through sophisticated online platforms like the dark web.
