Surat, Gujarat – The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run SMIMER Hospital has once again been embroiled in controversy due to its negligence. Questions have been raised about the hospital’s serious negligence as a critically injured woman did not get emergency treatment on time.

There are serious allegations that the female patient and her relatives were made to go pillar to post for hours instead of being admitted for treatment on Sunday.  After the video went viral, Surat Municipal Corporation Standing Chairman Rajan Patel has ordered an investigation.

According to the information received, a woman who was the victim of an accident suffered a serious injury on her back and head, due to which she was  brought to Smimer Hospital for immediate treatment. However, it is alleged that the doctors present at the hospital did not show seriousness. Due to which the patient’s relatives kept wandering around the hospital to find a doctor, but the doctors present made them visit other doctors saying that the doctor giving treatment was not available.

Frustrated by this incident, a relative of the patient made a video of this “negligence” of Smeemer Hospital. This video has now gone viral on social media, due to which the negligence of the doctors of Smimer Hospital is clearly visible. There is a lot of anger among the family members of the patient who did not provide immediate treatment despite serious injuries.

After the video of negligence in the treatment of a patient at Smimer Hospital went viral, Surat Municipal Corporation Standing Chairman Rajan Patel ordered an investigation on Monday.

Rajan Patel said that such negligence with patients at Smimer Hospital will never be tolerated. This video has come to our notice and we have ordered an investigation into all the matters. He further added that the RMO (Resident Medical Officer) of Smimer Hospital has been instructed in this regard.

Expressing serious concern in this matter, he said that such complaints have been made repeatedly and should never happen in future. He considered it inappropriate that such complaints were being received despite the presence of top doctors at Smimer Hospital. This incident has once again raised questions about the services and care of patients at Smimer Hospital. It remains to be seen what action will be taken in this matter after Rajan Patel’s order.
