Surat : As Maharashtra gears up for the Assembly elections on Wednesday, November 20, a remarkable initiative by Sankalp Sarees is catching public attention. In a bid to encourage greater participation of women voters, the popular saree store has announced a special offer: women casting their votes will be gifted a saree. This unique approach aims to empower women to take an active role in shaping the state’s democratic future.

Businessman Govind Gupta, the visionary behind the initiative, explained the details. “We have launched this campaign to raise awareness among women about the importance of voting. Often, women are unable to participate due to household responsibilities or lack of motivation. This offer is a small step to ensure that they make their voices heard,” he said.

To participate, women voters need to cast their votes and take a photograph outside their polling station. These photos must be sent to the designated WhatsApp number provided by Sankalp Sarees. The first 500 participants to submit their photos will receive a saree, couriered directly to their address. “The photographs must clearly show the voter outside the polling station as proof of their participation,” Gupta emphasised.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of voter turnout, especially among women, who constitute nearly half the population. Despite this, studies have shown that many women abstain from voting due to household chores or a lack of awareness about its significance. Sankalp Sarees’ offer aims to tackle this issue head-on by combining civic duty with an enticing reward.

The response to the announcement has already sparked excitement among women voters, with many appreciating the gesture as a step towards inclusion and empowerment. “It’s not about the saree; it’s about the thought behind it. This campaign motivates us to prioritize voting and participate in the democratic process,” said Richa Sharma, a resident of Pune.

With Maharashtra’s elections drawing near, initiatives like this could play a crucial role in boosting voter turnout, ensuring that every voice counts. Sankalp Sarees has set an inspiring example of how businesses can contribute to society, proving that even small incentives can lead to meaningful change.
