Surat : Recent revelations during a surprise raid by the State Monitoring Cell (SMC), Gandhinagar, have cast a shadow over the Surat police. This incident has highlighted the alleged inactivity of the local police in addressing reported criminal activities.

Despite repeated complaints regarding the operation of a gambling club in the Amroli Kosad Awas vicinity, the Amroli police station purportedly failed to take substantive action. However, the SMC team orchestrated a raid by posing as health workers, arriving at the location in an ambulance under the guise of a health check-up initiative.

The gambling den, allegedly run by Sohel Patel and Asif Patel, had been a source of nuisance for residents in the Kosad EWS area. Multiple complaints had been filed with the Amroli police, yet no action was reportedly taken.

Further complicating matters, a police constable serving as the vahivatdar (manager) at the Amroli police station is reported to be associated with the Surat crime branch. The constable’s alleged close ties with the operators of the gambling den have drawn attention from the SMC, Gandhinagar, intensifying the scrutiny on the police force’s handling of the situation.

Efforts to reach the Surat city police for comments regarding these allegations were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

The incident has sparked public concern and raised questions about the efficacy of law enforcement in addressing reported criminal activities, emphasizing the need for swift and impartial action to uphold law and order in the city.

The SMC, Gandhinagar, continues its investigation into these allegations, aiming to shed light on the reported inaction and potential connections between law enforcement and criminal elements within the Surat city police.
