Surat police Bust Major SIM Card Racket, 138 Unregistered SIMs Seized

Surat Police officials suspect the possibility of a much larger racket for the use of 138 unregistered SIMs being exposed based on the initial findings.

Surat: In a major crackdown on illegal SIM card activity, a joint team of Surat Special Operations Group (SOG) and Prohibition Cell (PCB) police arrested four persons and seized a total of 138 unregistered SIM cards from them. The arrests were made based on a tip-off received by the authorities.

Acting on the information, a team of SOG and PCB officials set up a watch near Sana Mill in the Bhestan area. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals identified as Afzal Whora and Adil Whora. A search of their possession yielded a staggering 101 SIM cards, raising suspicion of a larger racket.

Further interrogation of the arrested individuals led the police team to Arif Syed and Mohammad Farooq Memon. These two accomplices were subsequently apprehended from the Shantinagar Saibaba temple area while attempting to deliver additional illegal SIM cards. A total of 37 pre-activated SIM cards were seized from them.

The Bhestan Police have registered a complaint against all four arrested individuals. A thorough investigation is currently underway to unearth the entire network behind this illegal activity. Police officials suspect the possibility of a much larger racket being exposed based on the initial findings.
