Surat : Dr.Subodh Kamble rrested Over Alleged Rs.2 Crore Rent Default

SURAT :  A high-value property dispute in Surat’s Vesu has escalated into a criminal case, with urologist Dr Subodh Ramchandra Kamble arrested under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act after a diamond businessman alleged that his commercial premises were illegally retained despite massive rent dues.

The case also names Bharulata Patel Kamble, wife of Dr Subodh Kamble, in connection with the alleged property-related fraud. The allegations are part of the complaint and investigation and have not been established by a court.

According to the complaint filed by Mumbai-based diamond businessman Sanjaybhai Shah, he purchased 10 commercial units measuring 7,178 sq ft in the White House building at Vesu-Bharthana in 2018. The property is currently valued at around ₹8.60 crore, according to the complaint.

Shah leased the premises to Dr Kamble, an authorised director of Apricorp Health Private Limited, on December 15, 2022, for 15 years to establish a hospital. A registered lease deed was executed.

The agreement fixed monthly rent at ₹3,58,900, with a 5% annual increase. However, the complainant alleged that payments stopped after September 2023.

According to the complaint, rent, interest and GST outstanding between October 2023 and August 2026 amounted to ₹2,00,99,388.

The businessman further alleged that despite legal notice and termination of the lease under its terms, the premises were not vacated.

The complaint also alleges that when Shah demanded possession and payment, he was threatened with a false case under the Atrocities Act.

Following scrutiny by the Collector-led committee and approval from the Police Commissioner, Vesu Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Gujarat Land Grabbing Act.

Police subsequently arrested Dr Kamble. ACP Vijay Malhotra has been entrusted with the investigation.

The allegations against Dr Kamble and Bharulata Patel Kamble remain subject to investigation and judicial determination.
