Surat Diamond Artisan’s Daughter Shines Brightest in Gujarat Board Exams, Aims for a Future in AI
Her accomplishment is a beacon of hope, not just for aspiring students but also for Surat's diamond industry, where many artisans like Rajesh strive to provide their children with a brighter future
SURAT, GUJARAT : Hemanshi Sakhwala, daughter of a diamond artisan in the world’s largest diamond cutting and polishing centre in Surat, has secured a shining spot in the Gujarat Board’s 12th commerce examination with a remarkable 99.96 percentile rank and 95.14% marks. This achievement is a testament to Hemanshi’s dedication and hard work, along with the unwavering support of her family.
Hemanshi’s father, Rajesh Sakhwala, is a skilled diamond artisan employed in a Varachha-based factory. He is the sole breadwinner in the family, yet despite his modest income, Rajesh ensured his daughter had every opportunity to excel in her studies. Hemanshi aspires to become a data science expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, a dream her father wholeheartedly supports.
“I remember dedicating over eight hours daily to studying since the beginning of 11th grade,” says Hemanshi, highlighting her unwavering commitment. This dedication is even more commendable considering her parents’ own educational background. Rajesh studied only up to the 10th grade before entering Surat’s diamond industry.
Hemanshi credits her success not just to her own efforts but also to the excellent guidance she received at Tapovan school in Varachha. She expresses her gratitude to her teachers and Principal Mansukhbhai Gotti for their constant support and motivation throughout her academic journey. “Their belief in me has been instrumental in this achievement,” she beams.
Looking ahead, Hemanshi’s goals are clear. “I aim to pursue Data Science in AI Technology at Nirma University,” she declares. “This field fascinates me, and I dream of making a name for myself and securing a promising career opportunity in India or even abroad.”
“Hemanshi’s story is an inspiration to students from all walks of life. It demonstrates that with unwavering focus, a supportive family, and the right guidance, even the most ambitious dreams can be achieved” said Dinesh Navadiya, chairman of Indian Diamond Institute (IDI). “ Her accomplishment is a beacon of hope, not just for aspiring students but also for Surat’s diamond industry, where many artisans like Rajesh strive to provide their children with a brighter future” he added.
