Surat (Gujarat) [India]: The principal district and sessions court convicted Fenil Goyani, 20 in the gruesome murder of the 21-year-old, Grishma Vekariya here on Thursday. Grishma was stabbed to death in front of her family members two months ago.

Earlier in the day, Goyani was brought to the district and sessions court under stringent police bandobast at Athwalines on Thursday morning. The judgment was to be pronounced on April 16, but it got delayed as the advocate of the accused, Zameer Shaikh did not remain present in the court.

Public prosecutor, Nayan Sukhadwala stated that this is the first time in the history of Surat that the trial in the murder case was completed in a record time. “Court observed that loving someone doesn’t give you a license to kill,” said Sukhadwala. “We will be demanding capital punishment on Fenil Goyani on Friday”

On February 12, Fenil Goyani had slit the throat of Grishma Vekariya in Kamrej’s Pasodara in a one-sided love affair. The girl was murdered in cold blood in front of her family members.
