Surat : Alert Citizen Exposes SMC Officers in Booze Party at Swimming Pool Office

Surat : An alert citizen has caught Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) officers red-handed enjoying a booze party at the office of a swimming pool in Singanpore, Katargam. The incident occurred on Thursday night when the citizen, who chose to remain anonymous, recorded the officers in the act. When they were caught, the officers escaped from the spot, and some climbed the wall on the other side.
The alert citizen informed the councillor of Katargam ward Narendra Pandav, who subsequently informed the police about the booze party.
Acting on the information, the Singanpur police registered an offense under the Prohibition Act against five SMC officers: Pankaj Gandhi, Tejas Khalasi, Sanjay Bhagwagar, Pinesh Sarang, and Ajay Sailor.
Senior Inspector Pankaj Gandhi, Saving Inspector Tejas Khalasi, and Inspectors Pinesh Sarang and Ajay Sailor, all employed by the Surat Municipal Corporation. Sources indicate that SMC may also take internal disciplinary action against these officers.
According to reports, the Surat Municipal Corporation officers were having a drinking party inside the office of the swimming pool, situated in the Singanpur area, while watching the T20 World Cup match. The alert citizen got the information on the booze party and he immediately reached the spot and started shooting a video of the officers consuming liquor.
As the officers started escaping from the spot, the alert citizen informed the local councillor Narendra Pandav, who in turn informed the police.
The officers were in the relaxed mood and were sipping on the alcohol while watching IPL cricket match on the tablet. .
The Singanpur police have launched an investigation into the incident and have filed charges under the Prohibition Act. The officers involved are now facing legal consequences for their actions, and further disciplinary measures from SMC are expected to follow.
