Surat: In a tragic incident, seven family members, including three toddlers, committed mass suicide in Adajan, Surat due to financial crisis on Saturday. The incident has sent shock waves among the residents in Surat as seven of the family members, including four adults and three children, committed mass suicide.

The incident occurred at Siddeshwar Apartment in Palanpur Patia in Adajan. Manish Solanki gave poison to the family members, including his wife, mother, father, and three children, and later committed suicide by hanging himself in his apartment.

The Adajan police and senior police officers rushed to the spot following the incident reported to the police by the resident. The incident has sent shock waves among the community in Palanpur Patia.

The police shifted the dead bodies to the New Civil Hospital (NCH) for post mortem to know the cause of the death. The police officials have started questioning the neighbors and other residents in the area to know more about the family and their financial condition.

According to the information, Manish Solanki alias Shantu was owning a furniture factory and employed about 35 carpenters in the unit. Manish, poisoned the family members and hanged himself with the ceiling fan. Among the dead are three children, all of whom were found to be under the age of 8 years. Manish was originally from Surendranagar in Gujarat.

The police shifted the dead bodies to the New Civil Hospital (NCH) for post mortem to know the cause of the death. The police officials have started questioning the neighbors and other residents in the area to know more about the family and their financial condition.

Rakesh Barot, deputy commissioner of police said, “Police were informed about the tragic mass suicide incident in the early morning hours. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Manish Solanki hanged himself after giving poison to six of his family members including his three toddlers”

According to Barot, the police has recovered a note from the house. The note has not mentioned anyone’s name, but the deceased stated that huge amount of payment was stuck and he was unable to recover it.

Police has registered a case and investigations are on.
