Gandhidham (Gujarat) [India]:  For the first time, Bhavnagar’s Jayswal sisters-Namna and Riya-will clash in the finals of any event in any tournament. Elder sister and fourth seed Namna will have to overcome her younger sister Riya’s challenge if she were to win the junior girls’ (U-19) title at the 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2022 organised by Valsad District TT Association, under the aegis of Gujarat State TT Association at the Nagar Palika Sports Complex in Valsad on Wednesday.

While Namna crushed fourth seed Mouboni Chatterjee of Ahmedabad 4-1 in her semis, the younger Jayswal and third seed sprung a surprise when she upset the second seed Arnee Parmar of Surat.

The junior girls’ (U-17) final will be played between top seed from Ahmedabad Pratha Pawar, who downed fourth seed Arnee 4-2, and third seed Riya, who once again punched above her weight to beat second seed Nidhi Prajapati of Ahmedabad 4-2.

Top seed Pratha stormed into final of the sub-junior girls’ (U-15) category too after a comfortable win over Surat’s Sanaya Achha 4-1 and will start as the favourite in her encounter against seventh seed Nidhi.
