Surat : Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK), one of the world’s leading diamond manufacturing companies has partnered with the Global Network for Zero (GNFZ) to achieve net zero carbon emission at its two diamond craft facilities in Surat by 2024, six years earlier than India’s 2030 goals.

SRK’s partnership with GNFZ—an international leadership collective dedicated to accelerating the solutions that will lead to a worldwide zero emissions economy—has come at a crucial juncture at the time when India has set the target of achieving the zero carbon emission goals by 2030.

SRK is the world’s first diamond company to receive LEED certification. Two of its Surat facilities, SRK Empire and SRK House, were recognised for achieving LEED certification. SRK Empire was certified as LEED Platinum in 2018, and SRK House, which opened in 2017, was certified as LEED Platinum under the existing buildings rating system.

SRK is also tracking the operational performance in energy, water, waste, transportation and occupant experience at SRK Empire, and the performance score remains one of the highest in the world for all LEED buildings.

Govind Dholakia, Founder & Chairman of SRK, commented, “As a purpose driven company, we believe our commitment to quality and to society and the environment are of the utmost importance.”

Jayanti Narola, Entrepreneur, SRK, added, “We are committed to mobilising the wider industry and other sectors to join us. Achieving net zero (carbon emissions) at SRK Empire and SRK House by 2024 will set an industry-wide example of how to completely transform large-scale operations for the betterment of the planet.”

Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO, The Global Network for Zero, noted, “What leaders like SRK are doing has a generational effect. When leaders make bold decisions and put their personal brand and commitment behind it, waves are made and transformation happens. But it also takes implementation at all levels. When bold decisions at the top translate to meaningful action on the ground, it can change the world.”
