Shaurya Binu, a young amateur golfer, wins the All India Junior Golf Championship in Ahmedabad

Surat (Gujarat) [India], December 23: Shaurya Binu Bharathan, a 17-year-old amateur golfer from Surat and settled in Bengaluru, has won the All India Junior Golf Championship at the world-class Kalahaar Blues & Greens golf course in Ahmedabad.

After debuting as an amateur golfer in November-2020, Shaurya Bharathan recently completed one of the best seasons in 2021 by winning the meritorious runners-up position at the All India Amateur Men’s Open in December-2021.

Shaurya is the son of Colonel C Binu, who has been awarded the highest gallantry award in the military, the ‘Shaurya Chakra’. Colonel C Binu and his wife, Bharati Maru are hailing from Surat and studied in the PT Sarvajanik College of Science.

Shaurya BINU Bharathan, a 12th Science student of APS Bangalore, budding junior golfer being trained at the KGA, Bangalore. This young golfer had topped the 2018 merit list for the Indian Golfing Union (IGU), South Zone Juniors Golf Championship in category B by a huge margin in the very first year of his participation.

Shaurya has participated in the IGU National Junior tour 2019 and is currently ranked 12th in the country in his category. He won the prestigious 91sat Albatross Junior championship and was the winner across all the categories and top qualifier for Asia Pacific Junior Thailand Masters 2018. He was part of the Indian contingent at Narai Hill Golf Resort, Thailand from 18-21 October-2018 and took the golfing world by storm, winning his maiden overseas debut against top junior golfers from Asia Pacific countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Myanmar, etc.

Shaurya recently debuted as an amateur golfer and finished at the second position competing against top amateur players of the country. He is being coached by Tarun Sardesai.
