Surat (Gujarat) [India], December 28: Kunal Kabutarwala, son of the business tycoon and India’s largest dyestuff company, ColorTex has absconded after he was booked by the city police for allegedly assaulting a young girl from North East and his boyfriend at his bungalow in Vesu on December 26.

Kunal, son of Maheshchandra Kabutarwala, director in India’s largest dyestuff company, ColorTex was booked by the Umra police under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by sharp weapon), 504 (assault or using criminal force to any woman) under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly assaulting a young girl and his boyfriend at his bungalow.

According to the complaint lodged by Dennis Mahant, a resident of Adajan in the Umra police station, Kunal Kabutarwala was harassing his girlfriend Radhika (name changed) for quite a long time. His girlfriend, who is from Northeast India and residing at Ghod Dod road, On December 26, Radhika called on Dennis and told him that she wanted to meet him. However, Dennis drove to Ghod Dod road, and that Radhika narrated the entire harassment episode of Kunal Kabutarwala.

Dennis immediately called Kunal Kabutarwala on his phone and the latter invited both of them for peaceful talk at his bungalow in Vesu. When the duo reached Kunal’s residence, he was not available. However, Dennis called on his father Mahesh Kabutarwala and informed him about the misdeeds of his son.

In the meantime, Kunal reached his bungalow and was agitated seeing the couple. He (Kunal) pulled out a wooden stick and hit hard on Dennis’s head and caught hold of the young girl. Kunal, who was helped by his security guards, assaulted the young girl and bite her on her body.

A video has gone viral on the social media platforms where Kunal Kabutarwala is seen thrashing and assaulting the girl in the presence of the security guards, while Dennis is heard saying ‘please leave her, I am sorry”.

Sources said that the Umra police has registered an offence against Kunal Kabutarwala and that the investigations are on.

Kunal is the son of a business magnate, and his uncle, Jayanti Kabutarwala, the founder, chairman, and managing director of ColorTex, is a powerful figure with strong political ties. Kunal Kabutarwala has been charged under weak IPC sections by the Umra police.

A senior police officer said, “Kunal Kabutarwala is absconding. We are looking for his whereabouts”
