Shankaraa foundation to host cultural festival titled Soma-The Festival of Arts in South Bangalore

A three-day cultural festival that celebrates traditional art and crafts will be held from 10th -12th February at Shankara Foundation, Kanakapura Road

Bangalore (Karnataka) : South Bangalore’s Shankaraa Foundation, a nonprofit organisation, hosts the annual cultural festival SOMA to honour Bangalore’s rich heritage of art and craftsmanship. On February 10-12, starting at 10 a.m., the festival will take place at the Shankaraa Foundation on Kanakpura Road.

There will be over a hundred traditional craft booths, as well as six large-scale performances in theatre, dance, and music at this festival celebrating the arts. There are over twenty different types of traditional foods available at the festival. Performances by world-famous artists like Rukmini Vijayakumar, Vasu Dixit, Manasi Prasad, and Dr. Suma Sudhindra will be featured at the event, along with workshops, seminars, and demonstrations.

Famous performers from the worlds of theatre, music, and dance will be appearing on the legendary stages of Shankaraa. The lineup features a Folk-Rock concert by Vasu Dixit, a selection of dance choreographies by Rukmini Vijayakumar, a classical music ensemble inspired by bird sounds, “Wings of Melody,” performed by Dr. Suma Sudhindra and Manasi Prasad, a dance theatre performance of “Rama Katha” by Satyanarayana Raju, directed and performed by SN Sethuram, the Kannada play “Gati,” directed The festival will be elevated by the presence of these skilled performers.

Over a hundred established artisans and emerging social entrepreneurs from across the country will be showcasing their wares at the festival. In addition, there will be numerous opportunities for attendees to learn more about the history and significance of traditional art and craft through seminars, classes, demonstrations, and workshops. In conclusion, the Food Festival provides a one-of-a-kind traditional culinary experience that celebrates the richness and depth of Indian cuisine.

According to Rashme Hegde Gopi, the Managing Trustee of the Shankaraa Foundation, “SOMA, Shankaraa’s annual Cultural Festival is a joyful convergence of visual and performing arts, rich craft traditions, social consciousness, and an abundance of creativity.” It’s our way of showing appreciation to those who share our enthusiasm for our storied past.
