Shah Rukh Khan received a grand welcome in Mangalore as he returned to the city where he spent part of his childhood, coinciding with the 34th anniversary of his Bollywood debut in Deewana.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan returned to Mangalore, Karnataka, on Friday, where he was greeted by hundreds of cheering fans. The visit also marked a special milestone—34 years since the release of his debut film Deewana, which introduced him as a leading man in Hindi cinema in 1992.

Warm welcome from fans

Crowds gathered outside the airport to catch a glimpse of the actor as he arrived in the coastal city. Shah Rukh greeted fans with smiles, waves, and flying kisses before leaving for an event in a luxury vehicle.

The actor was in Mangalore to attend a real estate company’s event, which happened to coincide with the anniversary of Deewana. The occasion turned into a celebration of his remarkable three-decade-long career.

Addressing the audience, Shah Rukh greeted everyone with a heartfelt “Namaskara” in Kannada before thanking the people of Mangalore for their warm reception.

“Thank you, Mangalore! When I was coming here, I didn’t know what to expect. But the warmth, love, goodness, and excitement—from the airport to the drive here and all of you gathered today—has been overwhelming,” he said.

Fans celebrate 34 years of Shah Rukh Khan

The event featured several memorable moments as Shah Rukh interacted with the audience and danced to some of his biggest hits, including Jhoome Jo Pathaan. Videos of him recreating his iconic signature pose and celebrating his cinematic journey quickly spread across social media.

Fans flooded the internet with congratulatory messages.

One fan wrote, “And with his iconic pose, the celebration comes full circle. Here’s to 34 glorious years of Shah Rukh Khan—34 years of dreams, love and unforgettable memories.”

Another commented, “This is what timeless looks like.”

Why Mangalore is special to Shah Rukh Khan

Mangalore holds a special place in Shah Rukh Khan’s life. As a child, he lived in the city for several years after his maternal grandfather, who served as the chief engineer at Mangalore Port, was posted there.

The actor has often spoken fondly of his childhood memories in the coastal city and the time he spent with his grandparents. Those early years continue to make Mangalore an emotional destination for him, and fans still visit the house where he once lived.

More than three decades after making his Bollywood debut with Deewana, Shah Rukh Khan’s return to Mangalore turned into both a nostalgic homecoming and a celebration of one of Indian cinema’s most enduring stars.
