Surat, Gujarat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has launched two major events—‘Smart Education Expo – 2025’ and ‘Surat Startup Summit – 2025’—at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Center (SIECC), Sarsana. The three-day events, running from April 11 to 13, aim to promote educational advancement and empower local startups through networking and investment opportunities.
The inaugural ceremony was held on Friday morning at Seminar Hall-A, where Gujarat’s Education Minister Prafulbhai Pansheria inaugurated the expo. The event also saw the presence of Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop and Public Education Society Chairman Bharat Shah as special guests.
SGCCI President Vijay Mewawala highlighted that while Surat is celebrated for its MSME-driven textile and diamond industries, the need for educational excellence is equally critical. “Education is the foundation for societal growth. Our goal is to connect aspiring youth with institutions that offer cutting-edge learning and career paths,” he stated.
The Smart Education Expo 2025 features participation from around 20 Indian universities and over 50 global institutions. Indian participants include Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Ganpat University, and Sabarmati University, among others. Internationally, 12 universities from the UK, 19 from the USA, and representatives from Germany, France, Netherlands, Dubai, Ireland, and Singapore are showcasing their offerings.
The expo provides detailed guidance on higher education opportunities, ranging from MBBS to hospitality, interior design, jewelry, and more. Special pavilions offer comprehensive information about admissions, accommodations, and global education standards. Students and parents can engage directly with university representatives for course and career counseling.
Notably, stalls featuring products made by differently-abled individuals have also been set up, adding a social inclusion aspect to the event.
Simultaneously, the ‘Surat Startup Summit – 2025’ is offering a vibrant platform for over 50 startups, primarily from Surat and other cities like Ahmedabad, Valsad, Vapi, and even Bengaluru and Uttarakhand. These startups are active in diverse fields such as IT, cybersecurity, logistics, software, automation, and digital services.
SGCCI is facilitating connections between startups and potential angel investors and entrepreneurs to strengthen Surat’s growing startup ecosystem. “This summit is about creating a unified platform for innovation, funding, and entrepreneurial growth,” added Mewawala.
The dual events reflect Surat’s evolving identity—not just as an industrial hub, but also as a center for educational and entrepreneurial excellence.
