SGCCI’s SITEX Expo draws a huge response, garners Rs 300 Cr orders for hi-tech textile machinery in Surat

Surat (Gujarat) : Surat International Textile Expo (SITEX), a three-day event organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), was a resounding success, generating on-the-spot orders for textile machinery worth Rs 300 crore and a strong potential for capital investment worth over Rs 1,800 crore in the next six months.

During the three days, over 25,000 buyers from across the country visited SITEX Expo, generating hundreds of enquiries for the cutting-edge textile machinery displayed by over 100 exhibitors under one roof at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) in Sarsana, Surat.

For the first time in India, SITEX Expo displayed the world’s longest loom ‘Rapier Jacquard Machine’ in the size of 400 centimetres, along with airjet double panna, 400 rpm – R688 Hook Electronic Jacquard – Make in India, a position printing machine useful for digital printing on embroidery and Jacquard fabric, Rapier Jacquard – World’s fastest high speed loom for viscose, Airjet –

“The SITEX exhibition showcased advanced textile machinery made in India alongside European machinery as well as advanced textile machinery made in countries like China and Germany,” said Himanshu Bodawala, president of SGCCI. “In addition to the airconditioned dome at Sarasana, a separate dome in outer space was built to accommodate the exhibitors.”

According to Bodawala, the exhibitors were ecstatic during the three-day exhibition and reported an overwhelming response from buyers. More than 80% of the new buyers from across the country were received by the majority of the exhibitors at the show.
