SGCCI to host 6th edition of Yarn Expo in Surat

For the first time, the Yarn Expo organised by SGCCI in Surat will showcase specialty yarns used in silk replacement fabrics, sports wear, technical textiles and medical textiles.

SuratThe Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has organised a three-day long ‘Yarn Expo 2024’ at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC), Sarsana starting from August 9. 

For the first time, the Yarn Expo organised by SGCCI in Surat will showcase specialty yarns used in silk replacement fabrics, sports wear, technical textiles and medical textiles.

About 92 exhibitors from across the country will participate in the exhibition and yarn manufacturers of India will come on one stage. The exhibition is likely to witness the presence of more than 1,000 buyers from different cities across India. For the first time, there will be a separate pavilion on the theme of the sources from where the raw material of yarn is obtained. 

Vijay Mewawala,SGCCI president said the prime motive behind the 6th edition of Yarn Expo is targeted at the development of the textile industry of Surat, where the industrialists will get the knowledge of the latest technology regarding yarn production. The exhibition will be held in an area of ​​approximately 1.16 lakh square feet area where exhibitors from Surat, exhibitors from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Navsari, Mumbai, Erode, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (Namkhal and Karur cities), Jaipur, Bangalore, Panipat (Haryana), Chennai and Karnataka are participating.

The yarn manufacturers from across the country will come together on one stage and showcase all varieties of yarn. The exhibition will specifically showcase Silver Jari and Gold Jari, Tensil Yarn, Katan, N Silk, Lyocell, Zinc Linen, Carbon Fiber, Moisture Management, Bio Degradable, Hemp Yarn, Antimicrobial Yarn. N silk and lyocell yarns are used to replace silk in textile production. Carbon fibre yarns and biodegradable yarns are used in technical textiles. Antimicrobial yarns are used in the production of medical textiles. Also this yarn is used in sportswear, technical textile and medical textile. This yarn is also used for making export oriented cloth.

Nikhil Madrasi, Vice President SGCCI said that  Rohit Kansal (IAS), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles will remain present as the chief guest during the inaugural function on August 9, along with Textile Ministry Joint Secretary  Prajakta Verma (IAS), Director Anil Kumar (IRS) and Additional Textile Commissioner  S.P. Verma and J Raghunath, Senior Vice President of Reliance Industries Limited.
