SGCCI Hosts Inaugural Week-Long Art Exhibition in Mumbai

SURAT, GUJARAT : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) is set to host its first-ever week-long ‘Art Exhibition’ at the prestigious Nehru Centre Art Gallery in Mumbai, starting from June 11. This landmark event will showcase the works of 43 talented artists from Gujarat and Maharashtra, marking a significant cultural milestone for SGCCI.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Deven Choksey, the promoter of KRChoksey Group. According to Ramesh Vaghasia, president of SGCCI, the event will feature artists from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Daman, and Mumbai. The diverse collection will include oil paintings, acrylic paintings, sculptures, photography, and pencil drawings, offering a rich tapestry of artistic expression.

“This type of exhibition has been organized for the first time in Mumbai by SGCCI,” Vaghasia stated, highlighting the chamber’s commitment to promoting regional art on a larger platform.

Prior to the Mumbai exhibition, an ‘Art Preview’ will be held on June 9 at Vanita Vishram Art Gallery, Athwagate in Surat. This preview will display the works of the 43 selected artists, providing a sneak peek into the exhibition. Citizens are encouraged to visit and purchase paintings at this event.

Charanjit Singh, the curator of the exhibition, revealed that approximately 300 artists from across Gujarat and Maharashtra submitted their works for consideration. From these, 43 artists were shortlisted to display their creations in Mumbai. The artwork exhibited will range in value from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

“About 300 artists submitted their art, and about 43 were shortlisted for the exhibition in Mumbai,” Singh elaborated. This rigorous selection process ensures a high-quality exhibition featuring some of the finest talents from the region.

The artists participating in the SGCCI art exhibition include Alpa Shah, Ami Bhandara, Amisha Choksi, Anjali Talsara, Ankita Patel, Avni Desai, Bhavesh Joshi, Bhavini Golwala, Bhavna Joshi, Darshan Baraiah, Dhara Kapadia, Harshita Somani, Honey Aggarwal, Ishani Shah, Ishika Gupta, Jasal Khandwala, K.R.J. Lakshmi, Kanchan Advani, Kesavi Patel, Ketaki Jariwala, Khyati Singapuri, Krishna Jariwala, Manjari Mehta, Mickey Choksi, Muskan Bansal, Namita Arora, Payal Malhotra, Parag Pathak, Bhavesh Patel, Prachi Jariwala, Prerna Sharma, Priyanka Aggarwal, Priyanka Ramani, Purvi Vasaiwala, Rakhi Shah, Sayema Sheikh, Sheetal Gandhi, Shweta Sandhya, Sneha Dalal, Soni Jagdev, Sumitra Dargar, Vaibhav Sutaria, and Venus Sanghvi.

“The SGCCI invites all art enthusiasts to attend the exhibition at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai, to appreciate and support the remarkable works of these artists. The exhibition promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and contemporary artistic trends of Gujarat and Maharashtra” said Vijay Mevawala, vice-president of SGCCI.
