SURAT : Surat’s textile industry is gearing up for one of its biggest business events of the year as the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) prepares to host the Global Fabric Expo 2026 from June 26 to 28 at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC), Sarsana. The three-day event is expected to attract over 25,000 B2B buyers and visitors while providing a major platform for textile manufacturers to expand their reach in domestic and international markets.

Chamber President Ashok Jirawala announced that the exhibition, previously known as the WeaveKnit Exhibition, has been rebranded as Global Fabric Expo to reflect its broader vision of taking Surat’s textile industry from local markets to the global stage.

“The objective is to provide a dedicated B2B platform for manufacturers in weaving, knitting, technical textiles, narrow fabrics, velvet, pile fabrics, and garments. We want Surat’s manufacturers to think beyond regional boundaries and explore global opportunities,” he said.

Spread across a pillarless, air-conditioned exhibition hall covering 1.16 lakh square feet, the expo will feature 200 exhibitors from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, and even international participants from China’s Shengzhou city.

Visitors will get to explore a wide range of innovative products, including home furnishing fabrics, hospital and shower curtains, microfiber bed linen, blackout fabrics, recycled cotton textiles, premium embroidered fabrics, and advanced technical textiles. New-generation products such as digitally printed fabrics, eco-friendly materials, and specialty woven collections will also be on display.

Vice President Ravi Raj Desai said exhibitors at the previous edition generated business worth more than ₹450 crore within six months of the event.

“Given the larger scale of this year’s exhibition, we expect business transactions to exceed ₹600 crore. The participation of major yard brokers and buyers will create significant opportunities for manufacturers,” he said.

The expo will be inaugurated on June 26 by Gujarat Industries Minister Jairam Gamit, alongside industry leaders from textile and apparel sectors.

According to exhibition chairman Manish Kapadia, the event will serve as a one-stop platform for showcasing the latest collections in apparel fabrics, home furnishings, technical textiles, digital prints, jacquards, and specialty fabrics.

With buyers invited from key textile hubs including Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Ludhiana, and Banaras, the expo is expected to strengthen Surat’s position as India’s textile powerhouse while opening new avenues for growth and global business partnerships.
