SGCCI first in India to start certification and diploma courses

Surat (Gujarat) [India]: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), Gujarat’s oldest trade and industry organization, has become the first chamber of commerce in the country to foray into the field of education.

Ashish Gujarati, president of SGCCI is the brainchild behind the diploma and certification courses in 15 different fields. “I told my elder son to join me in the textile business, but he was adamant about pursuing a degree course in textile management. There was waiting at the premier educational institution and this is how an initiative of starting diploma and certification courses was taken” said Gujarati.

For the first time, SGCCI has announced the launch of the diploma and certification courses in 15 different fields ranging from textiles, digital marketing, branding, textile fabrics, family-owned textile business management, import, and export, etc.

The courses will be run from the SGCCI’s huge building located at Makkai Pool in Nanpura. The aspirants joining the courses offered by the SGCCI will be awarded certificates and diploma degrees.

Amrish Bhatt, project head, SGCCI’s Academic course said, “SGCCI is the first chamber in India to start academic courses. From next week, we are starting diploma and certification courses in 15 different fields. The courses are open for all, be it students, graduates, professionals, businessmen, etc.”

Bhatt added, “Three senior professors have been hired for imparting the courses. The faculties have over 15 years of experience in the academic field. The students will be awarded certificates on the completion of courses by the SGCCI”

Moreover, about 1,000 students and industry stakeholders have been benefited from the short courses started by the SGCCI in 2021-22. The course participants were from varied backgrounds such as chartered accountants, MBAs. BBAs, engineers, graduates, and non-graduates.

The SGCCI has also started certificate courses in fabric identification, conventional weaving, textile fibers, and yarn, Doby and Jacquard designing, textile yar, rapier weaving, textile at the glance, fabric analysis, complete entrepreneurship, modern yarn preparatory, labour laws, computerized accounting, and digital marketing, etc.
