SGCCI Explores Saudi Market Opportunities for Surat Industries

SURAT : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has taken a major step towards expanding global business opportunities for Surat and South Gujarat industries by holding strategic discussions with senior officials of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The virtual meeting, held on July 14, focused on strengthening India-Saudi trade relations and identifying new export opportunities for key sectors including textiles, diamonds, jewellery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, engineering and renewable energy.

During the meeting, Vipul Bawa, First Secretary (Commerce) at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, and SGCCI office bearers discussed ways to connect South Gujarat businesses with Saudi markets.

SGCCI President Ashok Jirawala highlighted the chamber’s growing influence, stating, “The Chamber is today the leading organisation of the country with more than 14,500 direct members and over 155 leading trade associations in South Gujarat.”

He also showcased the industrial strengths of the region and emphasised the potential for expanding exports to Saudi Arabia.

SGCCI Vice President Ravi Raj Desai highlighted Surat’s dominance in natural fibre, cotton and synthetic textile manufacturing and discussed strategies to increase textile exports to the Saudi market.

Vipul Bawa invited a high-level SGCCI delegation to visit Saudi Arabia and explore business opportunities in Riyadh, Dammam and the Western Coast. He assured support in arranging meetings with major stakeholders, including the National Chamber of Commerce, Saudi Investment Board and Saudi-India Business Council.

He also explained investment incentives and opportunities under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, especially in textiles, renewable energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food processing.

SGCCI Exhibition Chairman Manish Kapadia expressed interest in inviting Saudi buyers to upcoming exhibitions in Surat, aiming to create stronger business connections between the two regions.
