Surat | Gujarat — A high-level delegation from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) met Malavika Priyadarshini, Advisor (Economic and Commercial) at the Indian Embassy in Indonesia, to explore new opportunities for trade collaboration and business facilitation between the two countries.

Led by SGCCI President Nikhil Madrasi, the delegation presented an overview of the Chamber’s Global Connect initiative, aimed at promoting South Gujarat’s industries on the international stage. Madrasi emphasized the need for robust mechanisms to resolve trade disputes and ensure smoother business operations for Indian companies already engaged in or planning to enter the Indonesian market.

Surat’s global potential and academic collaborations highlighted

During the meeting, Bijal Jariwala showcased Surat’s potential as a global textile hub, highlighting the city’s leadership in polyester and fabric manufacturing. Mitish Modi, representing the education and innovation sector, discussed avenues for academic collaboration and joint research partnerships between universities in India and Indonesia, particularly in technology, design, and sustainable development.

Malavika Priyadarshini appreciated SGCCI’s proactive engagement and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to assist Indian enterprises in navigating local trade regulations. She advised Indian entrepreneurs to consult the Embassy for trade verification and dispute resolution before finalizing business deals in Indonesia.

SGCCI invites Indonesian participation in Global Village 2026

President Nikhil Madrasi presented a detailed overview of South Gujarat’s industrial diversity, particularly emphasizing the globally recognized sectors of textiles, diamonds, renewable energy, and education. He highlighted how the Chamber serves as a bridge for trade promotion, global networking, and industry exhibitions.

Madrasi also formally invited the Indonesian Minister and business leaders to participate in Global Village 2026, the Chamber’s flagship international exhibition scheduled for January 2026 at Sarsana, Surat.

The Indonesian Minister praised SGCCI’s initiative to deepen bilateral engagement and assured that the Ministry of Commerce will encourage Indonesian entrepreneurs to participate in upcoming trade programs organized by the Chamber, strengthening the India–Indonesia economic partnership.
