Surat : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) and Vidhyadeep University have joined forces to develop the SGCCI Vidhyadeep Skill Acquisition Centre, which matches with the objective of our Prime Minister’s “Skill India” programme.
Mr. BS Agrawal, Past President of SGCCI, Mr. Ketan Panchal, Chief Advisor and Zonal Officer of the Placement Cell Government of Gujarat, and Mr. Rakeshkumar, State Head of NSDC collaborated on this project.
The facility is intended to be a one-stop solution for skill development in South Gujarat, with the ambitious goal of developing Surat into the biggest Skill City after being named the Cleanest City, Smart City, and Diamond City.
The center’s slogan is “Discover Yourself Through Upskilling & Reskilling,” which reflects its dedication to developing a competent, industry-ready staff. The center’s primary goals will be to identify industry skill requirements, bridge the gap between industrial demands and worker capabilities, and provide diversified employment possibilities.
The Skill Acquisition Centre’s key characteristics include industry-oriented university courses, start-up assistance, industry-academia cooperation, upskilling current workforce, encouraging a growth mindset in students, and supporting research and innovation.
The President of Vidhyadeep University, Jayanti Bhai, compares the necessity for continual skill improvement to honing an axe. “Just as an axe requires periodic sharpening to serve its purpose, we as humans require continuous learning of skills to ensure we are part of the growing and constantly evolving job markets,” he said.
Mayank Bhatnagar, NSDC’s National Head of State Engagement, emphasised the necessity of multiskilling for all Indians. Meanwhile, SGCCI President Himanshu Bodawala and working committee member Ramesh Vaghasia voiced confidence in the initiative’s potential to satisfy the industry’s demand for qualified people resources.
By encouraging a culture of continuous learning and skill development, the SGCCI Vidhyadeep Skill Acquisition Centre is prepared to make a substantial contribution to the “Skill India” programme. This effort exemplifies the importance of cooperation and creativity in driving India’s growth and development.
