Surat : In a significant development, the Central Government and the Gujarat Government have joined hands to establish the Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) park in the Navsari district of South Gujarat.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this ambitious project was signed at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) in Sarsana, witnessed by prominent dignitaries including Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railway Darshana Jardosh, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The PM MITRA park, sprawling across 1,142 acres, is set to become a prominent textile industry hub. The establishment of this modern facility is expected to attract substantial investments and create unparalleled employment opportunities in the state of Gujarat.

Gujarat has witnessed remarkable growth in the textile sector, particularly in cities like Ahmedabad and Surat. Surat, known as the man-made fabric (MMF) textile hub of the country, has been eagerly anticipating the creation of the PM MITRA park. With the signing of the MoU, the long-awaited dream of establishing the first PM MITRA park in Gujarat is set to become a reality, bolstering the textile industry in Surat and South Gujarat.

The PM MITRA park is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting the textile sector and creating an enabling environment for its growth. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern amenities provided by the park will attract domestic and international investors, further propelling the industry’s progress.

The park is expected to serve as a comprehensive textile ecosystem, encompassing various stages of textile production, from manufacturing to processing, and including the apparel segment. This integrated approach will enhance the overall efficiency and competitiveness of the textile value chain, placing Gujarat at the forefront of the global textile industry.

The establishment of the PM MITRA park is not only significant for the textile industry but also for the socio-economic development of the region. The project will create a multitude of job opportunities, uplifting the livelihoods of thousands of people and fostering economic growth in the area. It will also contribute to the overall industrial development of Gujarat, reinforcing its position as a leading investment destination in the country.

The successful collaboration between the Central and Gujarat Governments marks a major milestone in realizing the vision of a robust and vibrant textile industry. The project’s initiation will witness concerted efforts from all stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and educational institutions, to ensure its seamless implementation.

As the work on establishing the PM MITRA park commences, there is an air of optimism and excitement among textile industry players in Surat and South Gujarat. The park is set to transform the textile landscape, create new avenues for growth and innovation, and propel Gujarat to new heights in the global textile arena.
