Robotic surgeon Dr. Ganesh Gorthi wins Pride of India Award

Dr. Gorthi has pushed the limits of robotic surgery to new heights with his extensive expertise in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and India.

Ahmedabad : Dr. Ganesh Gorthi, a leader in the fields of robotic bariatric, gastrointestinal, and minimally invasive surgery, was honoured with The Pride of India Award on Saturday at an event in Ahmedabad.

Dr. Gorthi has pushed the limits of robotic surgery to new heights with his extensive expertise in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and India. He has membership in the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the British Association for Bariatric Surgery (FBABS), and the Indian Association for Robotic Surgery (FIRAS). In addition to being a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom (FRCS) and the Royal College of Surgeons of the United Kingdom (MRCS), he is also a Fellow of Minimal Access Surgeons India. The subject of Robotic General and Gastrointestinal Surgery is another area where he has made important advances.

In addition, he received education and experience with surgical robotic systems from the United States, the United Kingdom, and India at facilities in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and India.

Although this was an option, Dr. Ganesh Gorthi ultimately decided to use the Made in India Surgical Robot “SSI Mantra” to provide the Indian people with access to world-class Robotic Surgery at a price they could afford.

He is also pioneering the use of the SSI Mantra Surgical Robot to conduct a wide range of robotic surgical procedures in India.

Dr. Gorthi received this honour from The Pride of India for his illustrious career and dedication to India. Dr. Gorthi, the current Head of the Department of Robotic Surgery in Hyderabad, is widely regarded as one of the best robotic surgeons in the world. He has more than 20 years of clinical experience doing robotic surgery in India and abroad.

To recognise those whose outstanding efforts are advancing India, the Pride of India Award was created. Dr. Ganesh Gorthi deserves this recognition because he is an inspiration in the fields of medicine and public service. “His accomplishments are a source of inspiration for everyone, and we are so grateful that he agreed to be honoured by The Pride of India,” said Maharshi Desai, the organization’s founding president.

“Being honoured with the Pride of India Award is both humbling and rewarding. This honour is a testament to the tireless work of the medical community to better the lives of millions of people all over the world, not only the thousands of people whose care I have personally improved thanks to this award. Dr. Gorthi said he was humbled to accept the honour in the innovative and industrious state of Gujarat.
