Rahul Gandhi to Visit Ahmedabad Following Attack on Congress Office
Rahul Gandhi has condemned the violence in a post on X, where he criticized the BJP for spreading violence and hatred
Ahmedabad : Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, is expected to visit Ahmedabad on July 6 to meet with Congress leaders and address the escalating tensions following the attack on the Congress office by BJP and right-wing organisations. The visit comes at the invitation of Shaktisinh Gohil, the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president, who aims to bolster the morale of Congress workers.
The political climate in Ahmedabad has been charged since the incident at the Gujarat Pradesh Congress office in Paldi. Gohil has reported to Rahul Gandhi about the perceived one-sided actions of the Ahmedabad police, accusing them of bias in handling the situation.
The police have made several arrests, including Padmaben Brahmabhat, wife of Sanjay Brahmabhat and corporator of India Colony ward, Manish Thakor, Naranpura ward president, Mukesh Dantani, vice president of Ahmedabad city Congress, Vimal Kansara, a Congress worker, and Harsh Parmar, NSUI spokesperson. These detentions have raised concerns among Congress leaders about the fairness of the police’s actions.
The violence began with stone pelting from both sides, lasting for 30 minutes before the police intervened to settle the matter. Following the unrest, the police detained several Congress workers from their office, further intensifying the situation. Currently, a heavy police presence has been established at the Congress office to maintain order.
Rahul Gandhi has condemned the violence in a post on X, where he criticized the BJP for spreading violence and hatred. He stated, “The BJP people who spread violence and hatred do not understand the basic principles of Hinduism. The people of Gujarat clearly see through their lies. A crucial lesson will be taught. I repeat – INDIA is going to win in Gujarat.”
