Surat (Gujarat) : The enthusiasm for celebrating always needs to be accompanied by something worthwhile. Every year before the Hindu festival of kite-flying, Uttarayan, Radio Mirchi, the most listened-to radio station in Surat and all of India, distributes thousands of life-saving safety belts to residents of the city. It’s common for drivers (especially those on two-wheeled vehicles) to get hurt or even killed as a result of this manja.

Together with the Surat city police, Radio Mirchi will begin distributing the lifesaving safety belts. It will be distributed at the Chowpaty traffic intersection in Athwalines on January 9 with the presence of Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

During the Uttrayan Festival, Radio Mirchi employees and police officers will hand out safety belts to drivers in an effort to shield them from the dangerous manja. When worn, safety belts prevent drivers and passengers from having their throats slit by the belt’s sharp thread.

Chowpaty Traffic signal is where the Radio Mirchi event to distribute safety belts will begin at 9:30 a.m. on January 9, according to Radio Mirchi officials. Thousands of belts will be handed out in the city as part of the ongoing distribution campaign.
