PMI Gujarat Chapter Hosts Second Annual Conference on NEXTGEN Project Management

Ahmedabad: The Project Management Institute (PMI) Gujarat Chapter held its second annual conference on “NEXTGEN Project Management – Elevating our World through Emerging Technology” at Nirma University recently. The event attracted approximately 350 project management practitioners from across Gujarat to discuss the effective use of technology for enhancing project success.

The conference was inaugurated by Shri M Thennarasan(IAS) Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad, as the chief guest.

During his address, Shri Thennarasan emphasized the importance of timely project completion and high-quality standards, coining the slogan, ‘Project delayed is Project denied’. He also highlighted the significance of selecting the right team for successful project management.

The event was further graced by the presence of Shri Amit Goyal Managing Director of  PMI South Asia region. Shri Goyal shared valuable insights about PMI’s global activities and future initiatives, inspiring attendees to explore new possibilities in project management.

During the keynote address, Mr Samir Yajnik, CEO and Executive Director, Electra EV, enlightened the audience about the traits of a project management professional and the importance of maintaining diligence, patience, and integrity ensures success in all projects.

Emphasising on Gujarat Chapter’s vision of being an organization of choice by evangelizing project management within Gujarat, Mr Prerak Shah, President, PMI Gujarat Chapter said, “At this conference, collaborations have been forged between GESIA [Gujarat Electronics & Software Industries Association] and Nirma University through memoranda of understanding. This is in line with our mission to spread project management knowledge and best practices across Gujarat’s Industry and Academia to elevate our world through successful and quality project delivery.”

The conference also featured plenary sessions from Air Commodore Mr Rajendra Gaekwad and Mr Aditya Kumar. It also saw intriguing panel discussions about next-generation technologies in project management. The discussions covered contemporary subjects such as cybersecurity, generative AI, and responsible AI, among others.

Speaking about theme of this conference – ‘Next-generation Technologies for project management’, Shri Sandip Karia, Conference Director, said, “As the world rapidly embraces digital transformation, our objective was to ensure project managers understand technology transformation because by adopting new technologies, project managers can significantly reduce project timelines and enhance quality, driving our industry forward. He concluded the conference thanking all for their active participation and support”
