The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes participation in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv celebrations and the inauguration of the newly built Sardar Dham-3 complex in Vadodara, a major project aimed at student development and community upliftment.
Jamnagar arrival and Somnath programme
According to officials, the Prime Minister will arrive at Jamnagar airport on the night of May 10 and stay overnight in the city. On the morning of May 11, he will travel to Somnath to attend the Swabhiman Parv celebrations, an event that holds strong cultural and spiritual significance.
Party leaders say the visit carries symbolic importance. “This is the Prime Minister’s first Gujarat visit after the party’s historic victories. The enthusiasm among workers and citizens is extraordinary,” a senior BJP functionary said.
Vadodara to host grand inauguration
After the Somnath event, the Prime Minister will proceed directly to Vadodara to inaugurate Sardar Dham-3, a modern educational and residential complex built at a cost of ₹150 crore. Spread across 4.75 lakh square feet, the facility has been developed by the Patidar community to support students preparing for competitive exams.
The complex will accommodate up to 2,000 students and provide advanced facilities, coaching support and high-tech security. A special provision offering accommodation for underprivileged girls at a nominal fee of ₹1 has drawn particular attention.
Community representatives described the project as a milestone initiative. “Sardar Dham-3 is not just a hostel; it is a centre for the all-round development of students and a step towards nation-building through education,” a Patidar community leader said.
Possible roadshow in Vadodara
Authorities are also preparing for a possible roadshow in Vadodara, with estimates suggesting that 30,000 to 40,000 people could attend the programmes. The Prime Minister is expected to be honoured by Patidar community organisations and presented with the Sardar Gaurav Puraskar.
The visit has triggered large-scale preparations by the state administration. A high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi reviewed security, traffic management and logistical arrangements. Officials from Gir Somnath district and Vadodara participated in detailed planning discussions.
A senior official said, “All departments have been instructed to remain on high alert and ensure seamless coordination for the Prime Minister’s visit.”
Political significance of the visit
Political observers believe the Gujarat tour will carry strong symbolic value, coming shortly after the BJP’s electoral success in eastern and northeastern India and recent local body victories in Gujarat. The visit is expected to energise party workers and reinforce the Prime Minister’s connection with his home state.
